The focus of the series is on symbolic colors that matter to me and are relevant currently. These include yellow for hope, purple for wisdom and enlightenment, green for growth, blue for water and connection, magenta for women in all their strength and fullness, and orange for global climate change, a warning color. Each piece is made of hand-printed and collected papers. The style is mixed media collage since both acrylic and paper are used in the creation. The symbols, with the exception of the female symbol, are my own designs. Each piece in the series follows certain rules. One color family per piece is explored in many values and patterns. Each piece has one bold, iconic symbol. Each symbol is relatively simple in bold black line. The pieces for each piece are all cut in a particular shape relevant to the concept. The global climate change warning pieces are torn in contrast.
